Subluxation

"The adjustment of the subluxation to release pressure upon nerves, to restore mental impulse flow, to restore health, is big enough to rebuild the thoughts and actions of the world."

What is Subluxation?

For Patients:

A vertebral subluxation is a condition when one or more of the bones of your spine (vertebrae) move out of their normal position and create pressure on, or irritate spinal nerves. Spinal nerves are the nerves that come off the spinal cord between the vertebrae that make up the spinal column. This pressure on or irritation to the spinal nerves interferes with the mental impulses (messages) that originate in the brain and move through the nervous system to a specific part of the body to organize and maintain normal body function.

How does this affect me?

Your nervous system organizes and maintains all the normal functions of your body. If mental impulses traveling through the nervous system are interfered with or altered, the affected parts of your body will not get the proper message from your brain and your body will not be able to function at 100% of its potential. In other words, some part of your body will not work properly. It is the exclusive responsibility of the Doctor of Chiropractic to locate, analyze, and help your body correct the vertebral subluxation. This is done with a specific chiropractic adjustment. Chiropractors are the only professionals who undergo years of specialized education to be the experts at identifying and adjusting vertebral subluxations.

For Health Professionals:

Vertebral subluxation is an alteration of the intervertebral relationships of one or more articulations of the spinal column or the immediate weight bearing components of the axial skeleton; accompanied by a change in the morphology of the tissue occupying the neural canal and/or intervertebral foramina; as well as an alteration of neural function sufficient to interfere with the transmission of organizing information, considered to be homologous to the mental impulse.
